Michael Jackson's “Thriller” is the inspiration for a new Illuminations short film

Netflix releases new Halloween-themed short film Singing: Thriller morning. It is based on Michael Jackson's iconic music video “Thriller”, released in 1983.

Here's what we know about the new short film:

• The short film was written and directed by Garth Jennings, who also directed the two Sing Features. “I don't know if it's possible to have as much joy working on something as I did Singing:Thriller,“he said in a statement.
• The short film was executive produced by Dana Krupinski, produced by Chris Meledandri and co-produced by Nathalie Vancauwenberghe. Production was carried out by Illumination's Paris studio. Universal Pictures, which distributes the Illumination films, was also involved in the production.
• The short film stars Matthew McConaughey as Buster Moon, Tori Kelly as Meena, Nick Kroll as Gunter, Scarlett Johansson as Ash, Taron Egerton as Johnny and Garth Jennings as Miss Crawly. The official logline:
  

  After staging a spectacular version of “Thriller” at the New Moon Theater, Buster Moon and the cast of Sing Head out to party at Clay Calloway's Halloween party. But when our heroes arrive at the party, they discover that a mysterious, multi-colored slime has turned Clay and his guests into dance freaks.
