Mild start to the weekend; Frost and frost are possible Sunday night

SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO) – In case you missed it, there was a spectacular Northern Lights show in KELOLAND last night. I took these pictures between Canton and Beresford around 9 p.m. Many of you also shared pictures and we thank you! We expect a few more clouds and cooler temperatures in KELOLAND today. Sioux Falls will stay in the lower 70s this afternoon.

We could sure use some rain. Take a look at the latest drought monitor. Sioux Falls is currently experiencing severe drought. In fact, drought is spreading to all corners of KELOLAND.

Futurecast will remain dry this weekend. Highs will be cooler today in the upper 60s to lower 70s, but warmer weather is expected to return tomorrow with highs in the 70s for most areas. A second cold front will move into western KELOLAND during the afternoon, followed by significantly cooler weather on Sunday.

Don't forget about frost and freezing conditions through Monday morning. We'll have more details on this story later today and tomorrow.

While the 7 day forecast remains dry, we are seeing some signs of a chance of rain into next weekend.
