In a lawsuit filed Monday in a Los Angeles court, Tempo Music Investments alleged that Cyrus copied elements of the Mars track “When I Was Your Man” in her career-defining hit “Flowers,” released last year by her ex Husband Liam posted it was Hemsworth's birthday.

“Any fan of Bruno Mars' 'When I Was Your Man' knows that Miley Cyrus' 'Flowers' alone didn't have all the success. 'Flowers' duplicates many of the melodic, harmonic and lyrical elements of 'When I Was.'” “Your husband,” the lawsuit says.

Tempo Music owns a share of the copyright to “When I Was Your Man”, released in 2013 as a single from Mars' 2012 second studio album “Unorthodox Jukebox”, because they acquired the catalog of Philip Lawrence, one of the co-writers of the Songs. Writer.

The lyrics of both songs, which were released 10 years apart, certainly have similarities. In Flowers, Cyrus sings, “I can buy flowers, write my name in the sand; talking to myself for hours, saying things you don't understand; I can make myself dance and I can hold my own hand, yes, I can love myself better than you.

The lawsuit also noted the widespread success of “Flowers,” a comeback hit for Cyrus on radio last year as she regained the mainstream attention she first received during her decade-long “Bangerz” era in 2013 had previously experienced. Her success with the song led to her first two Grammy wins.
