More than 7 million viewers watched Fox News' Kamala Harris interview

More than seven million viewers tuned in to Fox News Channel's highly anticipated interview with Vice President Kamala Harris.

According to Nielsen Media Research, Wednesday's episode of “Special Report with Bret Baier” was watched by 7.1 million total viewers, including 882,000 in the advertiser-coveted 25-54 age group, making it the most-watched interview of the 2024 election season might.

The Fox News interview topped CBS News' primetime special “60 Minutes” with Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, which averaged just 5.7 million viewers. It also topped CNN's joint interview with Harris and Walz, their first-ever interview as Democratic candidates, which drew just 6.3 million viewers.

Harris' other television interviews have underperformed her viewers, such as her recent appearances on ABC's “The View” and “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” which drew 3.1 million and 2.9 million viewers, respectively, as well as the Harris broadcast on MSNBC. with Stephanie Ruhle, which only attracted 1.8 million viewers.

Fox News Channel also drew large daytime audiences with “The Faulkner Focus,” a town hall in Georgia with former President Trump that drew 2.9 million viewers in the 11 a.m. ET time slot and 338,000 viewers in the key demo.

During the Harris interview, Fox News' Bret Baier pressed the vice president on her immigration record, the far-left political stance she took in 2019 and other key election issues.

Harris also faced questions about her knowledge of President Biden's mental decline.

“You told a lot of interviewers that Joe Biden did his best, that he went around in circles on his staff. When did you first notice that President Biden's mental faculties seemed to be weakened?” Baier asked.

After a brief pause in answering the question, Harris continued to tout Biden's abilities in office.

“Joe Biden, I have watched from the Oval Office to the Situation Room, and he has the judgment and experience to do exactly what he did, making very important decisions on behalf of the American people,” Harris said .

“No concerns were expressed?” Baier followed.

“Bret, Joe Biden is not on the ballot…and Donald Trump is,” Harris replied.
