NASCAR Cup Series playoff rankings by Charlotte's ROVAL

UPDATE: Alex Bowman, driver of the No. 48 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro, failed post-race inspection. Bowman had advanced to the “Round of 8” thanks to an 18th place finish and a win on stage two.

After being demoted to 38th, Joey Logano is able to advance to the Round of 8 and Alex Bowman is eliminated.

These NASCAR Cup Series playoff rankings were updated at 8:30 p.m. ET to reflect this post-race inspection error.

Kyle Larson had a dominant performance in Sunday's Bank of America ROVAL 400 at Charlotte Motor Speedway's ROVAL. The performance marked his second victory in the NASCAR Cup Series playoffs, his first victory also coming in dominant style at Bristol.

Sunday's event also marked the end of the “Round of 12” of the NASCAR Cup Series playoffs, which saw the postseason field reduced from 12 drivers to just eight competitors. At the start of the afternoon, Joey Logano, Austin Cindric, Daniel Suarez and Chase Briscoe were below the cutline.

None of the must-win riders were really in contention for victory at the end of Sunday's event, with Austin Cindric the best rider of them in fourth. Chase Briscoe suffered mechanical problems mid-race and didn't even get a chance to fight.

The battle went to Joey Logano and Tyler Reddick, and at the end of the event only four points separated the regular season champion and the two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion, with Reddick winning and advancing to the “Round of 8.”

Austin Cindric, Daniel Suarez, Joey Logano and Chase Briscoe were eliminated from the postseason, while the remaining eight drivers' point totals were reset. However, a disqualification by Alex Bowman after the race brought Joey Logano back into the field for the playoff Round of 8. The eight drivers who will compete for the championship are Kyle Larson, Christopher Bell, Tyler Reddick, William Byron, Ryan Blaney , Denny Hamlin, Chase Elliott and Joey Logano.
