New York Liberty will celebrate the first WNBA championship in franchise history with a parade in New York City this Thursday, October 24th

Fan celebration will take place on Thursday evening at the Barclays Center

NEW YORK (Oct. 21, 2024) – This Thursday, October 24th, the New York Liberty will celebrate their first WNBA Championship in franchise history with a ticker parade through New York City. The parade begins at 10 a.m. in Battery Park and continues north along Broadway to City Hall, through the so-called “Canyon of Heroes.” Following the parade, a ceremony honoring the New York Liberty will take place at noon at City Hall. The Liberty will also host a celebration with fans at Barclays Center in Brooklyn on Thursday at 7 p.m

“This championship isn’t just for us and New York City – it’s for all Liberty Loyals and our Brooklyn community! We are honored to celebrate at the iconic Canyon of Heroes and also gather with our passionate fans at our home in Brooklyn,” said Keia Clarke, CEO of New York Liberty. “The county community has embraced us wholeheartedly since we played at Barclays Center and we want to share this moment with them.”

The parade is open and free to all fans, but those wishing to attend the championship ceremony at City Hall and the fan celebration at Barclays Center must request tickets. The New York Liberty won the 2024 WNBA Championship on Sunday, October 20, after defeating the Minnesota Lynx 67-62. The New York Liberty are an original franchise of the WNBA and this victory marks their first WNBA championship in 28 seasons and New York City's first professional basketball championship since 1973.
