College football continues to march through October with another week of exciting action. Here's everything you need to know about Week 8's games.

No. 5 Georgia holds off No. 1 Texas in the second half

Georgia football beats Texas

No. 5 Georgia dethroned No. 1 Texas 30-15. There are now zero undefeated teams in the SEC.

It was a wild first half with a total of five turnovers between both teams. However, the Georgian offense was able to capitalize on the ball losses and took a 23-0 lead after the first 30 minutes.

Texas quickly jumped on the board, opening the second half and cutting the lead to two points. After a wild argument with the referees, the Longhorns took advantage of an interception and pulled within eight points.

Trevor Etienne scored his third rushing touchdown of the night early in the fourth quarter to seal the game. The Longhorns managed to get close a few times, but only finished the game 5-1 on fourth down.

Georgia's defense made the difference tonight, tallying seven sacks, eight tackles for loss, two fumbles and one interception. Bulldog edge rusher Jalon Walker recorded three sacks and four QB hits, and defensive back Daylen Everette recovered a forced fumble, recovered the fumble and had an interception.

Both quarterbacks struggled tonight, each finishing with a completion rate of less than 60%. Beck threw three interceptions and Ewers had a fumble and an interception. The Longhorns only converted one of Beck's picks into points.

As a result, Texas (6-1, 2-1 SEC) will likely fall from the top spot and make way for the fourth different team ranked No. 1 in the AP Poll this season.

Georgia (6-1, 4-1 SEC) secured a much-needed SEC win and Kirby Smart earned his 100th win as head coach of the Bulldogs.

No. 9 Iowa State avoids an upset against UCF in a thriller

Rocco Becht throws a pass against UCF.

It's not a week of college football without chaos in the Big 12! It was a hectic battle for Iowa State's narrow win over UCF, 38-35, in Ames.

The Knights led by as many as 14 points at times behind a strong running game. Both RJ Harvey and quarterback Jaccuri Brown totaled 354 yards on the ground and each passed for more than 150 yards with two touchdowns each in the loss.

Iowa State showed extreme poise despite trailing by double digits, and that was put to the test when the Cyclones trailed 35-30 with just 1:47 left in the game. Although Iowa State quarterback Rocco Becht had turned the ball over twice before, he responded and gave the Clones the lead with an 11-play, 80-yard touchdown drive. An interception on UCF's ensuing drive tied the game and gave the Cyclones their best start since 1938.

The Knights face another tough test at No. 13 BYU next week in Orlando, while Iowa State has a bye next weekend before hosting Texas Tech.

No. 11 Tennessee handed No. 7 Alabama its second loss of the season

Tennessee intercepts Alabama

No. 11 Tennessee handed No. 7 Alabama its second loss of the season, winning 24-17 in a defensive battle that turned into a shootout.

Two teams finished in the top 10 nationally in points per game, surprisingly the sounds of cricket could be heard at Neyland Stadium in the first half. Outside of Alabama wideout Ryan Williams' five-yard receiving touchdown in the second half, both the Crimson Tide and Tennessee combined for zero points, four turnovers and four sacks by halftime.

However, the highly anticipated duel was given new life in the second half as the two scored 31 points – a total of five ties and lead changes.

The Volunteers lost 24 of those points and leaned heavily on running back Dylan Sampson to deliver. He rushed for two touchdowns and over 100 yards in the second half.

After a turnover on downs with under two minutes left, the Alabama defense held Tennessee to a field goal to keep the contest at a one-possession game. However, Volunteers linebacker Will Brooks closed the curtain on the Crimson Tide, intercepting quarterback Jalen Milroe on the first play of the drive.

For the first time since 2007, Alabama has two losses before November.

No. 6 Miami (Florida) outlasts Louisville

Miami

In a game full of explosive plays and swings in momentum, No. 6 Miami (Fla.) edged Louisville 52-45 to improve to 7-0 on the season. The Hurricanes (7-0 overall, 3-0 ACC) took control in the second half with Cam Ward's four touchdown passes. Ward finished the game with 319 passing yards and kept Miami's offense firing on all cylinders despite a strong Cardinals comeback.

Louisville's Tyler Shough led a fourth-quarter rally and tied the game at 38 apiece with a 7-yard touchdown pass. However, Miami responded with two quick points and secured the win. Freshman Isaac Brown shined for Louisville (4-3, 2-2), rushing for 56 yards and a touchdown, while Caullin Lacy's 100-yard kickoff return kept the Cardinals within striking distance.

Despite Louisville's late push, Miami's defense made key stops, including blocking an onside kick to end the game.

Brady Cook wants to bring No. 19 Missouri back to beat Auburn

Mizzou defense pumped against Auburn

Quarterback Brady Cook and No. 19 Missouri outscored Auburn with 15 points in the fourth quarter to win 21-17.

Victory didn't seem to be in sight for the home team for most of the competition. Everything seemed to be going wrong for Missouri (6-1 overall, 2-1 SEC) in the first three quarters.

After Cook's right ankle injury on the game's first drive, Missouri's offense faltered. After their first possession and before the final drive of the third quarter, they totaled less than 150 yards and three points.

Things got worse when star wideout Luther Burden III thwarted a punt that led to an Auburn touchdown early in the third quarter. Missouri trailed 17-6 early in the third quarter.

Luckily for Missouri, Cook returned at that point and got his team back on track.

On the third play of the drive, he connected with wide receiver Mookie Cooper for a 78-yard reception that led to a two-yard rushing touchdown on the first play of the fourth quarter. Cook ran to the goal line and looked at his sideline while shrugging his shoulders at Michael Jordan.

The momentum slowed on the next two drives, resulting in punts on consecutive drives, but picked up again on the final possession of the game. Throwing for 48 yards and rushing for 23 yards, Cook led Missouri on a game-winning 17-play, 95-yard drive.

Missouri stopped Auburn (2-5, 0-4) on its final possession of the game and secured bowl eligibility for the fifth straight year.

Indiana overwhelms Nebraska

Indiana football

The Hoosiers continued to impress in Week 8, dominating Nebraska at home 56-7.

After a bye week, Indiana entered Week 8 as one of the few undefeated teams in the country – and the Hoosiers proved why. Nebraska, which only suffered one defeat in this matchup, was not going to be an easy win. But Curt Cignetti had lit a fire in this veteran Indiana football team, and the Hoosiers showed the country that they were not to be taken lightly.

Indiana's 49-point win is the largest win against a Big Ten opponent in program history – the other victory coming in 1945, when the Hoosiers beat Minnesota 49-0. On the other hand, this is the Huskers' second-worst loss in Big Ten history since joining the conference, trailing only their 62-3 loss to Ohio State in 2016.

STAY PERFECT: Follow all the undefeated teams this season

Currently, Indiana (7-0, 4-0 Big Ten) sits atop the Big Ten, tied with No. 2 Oregon. The Hoosiers have already surpassed bowl eligibility for the first time since 2020, and now they will set their sights higher and try to compete at the top of the Big Ten for a possible conference championship and a spot in the College Football Playoff.

No. 22 Illinois suffocates No. 24 Michigan

Illinois football

The Fighting Illini stifled the Wolverine offense 21-7, handing the defending national champions their second straight loss.

Illinois (6-1, 3-1 Big Ten) took a 13-0 lead midway through the second quarter — and Michigan had no answer on offense to get back into the game.

The Wolverines had three turnovers – one interception and two fumbles – in the loss as Illinois' front seven overwhelmed Michigan with five sacks and seven tackles in the loss.

Michigan (4-3, 2-2 Big Ten) couldn't stop the run after the Fighting Illini took an early lead. The Wolverines allowed 187 rushing yards, nearly five yards per carry.

The Wolverines lost their second Big Ten game and still have No. 2 Oregon, No. 16 Indiana and No. 3 Ohio State on their schedule.

Illinois, on the other hand, secures a big win, beating Michigan for the first time since 2009 and only the second time this century. The Fighting Illini will look to carry that momentum into a tough road matchup with No. 2 Oregon next weekend.
