It was a scary situation for the New York Jets on Sunday night when offensive lineman Xavier Newman was taken off the field on the blue board against the Steelers in Pittsburgh.

With 7:22 left in the third quarter, Newman was knocked down by Steelers linebacker Patrick Queen.

He remained on the sidelines for a few minutes while the coaching staff looked after him.

According to the NBC broadcast, they stabilized his neck, gave him backboards and placed him on a stretcher as he was taken to a Pittsburgh-area hospital.

Newman reportedly moved his limbs as he squeezed the hands of athletic trainers, the program said.
