Ohio State Buckeyes receive massive injury update for Iowa game

The Ohio State Buckeyes are preparing for a tough matchup against the Iowa Hawkeyes this weekend. It will be their biggest test of the 2024 college football season yet.

Luckily, they received some good news before the big game.

Star defenseman Tyleik Williams is expected to return to the field this week from injury, according to head coach Ryan Day.

“We expect him to play.”

Williams is an important part of Ohio State's defense. His absence has made it difficult for the rest of the defense to fill his shoes.

Bringing him back will take the defense to the next level. He's a projected first-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft for good reason. Williams really is that good and will be needed on the field if the Buckeyes want to achieve their goal of winning a national championship.

Standing 6-foot-4 and weighing nearly 330 pounds, Williams combines elite size and strength with great athleticism. He can stuff the run and also help chase the quarterback.

In two games so far this season, Williams has recorded nine total tackles and 1.5 sacks. These numbers in just two games show the impact he can make.

Dealing with Iowa's offense will create an urgency to stop the run. Kaleb Johnson is one of the best running backs in the country. However, from a passing game perspective, the Hawkeyes were poor.

Cade McNamara did not have a good season for Iowa this year. Ohio State will have a great opportunity to take advantage of its struggles.

Other than that, this is big news for the Buckeyes' defense. Williams will come back and make an immediate impact on Ohio State's defense.

Now the hope is that he can stay healthy for the remainder of the 2024 season.
