Sean “Diddy” Combs’ mother has released a statement defending him against sex trafficking allegations and sexual misconduct allegations.

The rapper and music mogul – also known as P Diddy and Puff Daddy – has pleaded not guilty to three charges, including sex trafficking, and is being accused of sexual misconduct by 120 new accusers – 25 of whom were children at the time of the alleged crimes.

The 54-year-old is currently awaiting criminal trial after being refused bail of $50 million (£37.8 million).

Combs' mother, Janice Smalls Combs, released a statement through her lawyer Natlie G. Figgers, which has been seen by Sky News.

“It is heartbreaking to see my son being judged not for the truth, but for a narrative based on lies,” Ms. Combs wrote.

“It is a pain too unbearable to put into words,” she continued.

“Like every person, my son deserves to be in court, to finally argue his side and prove his innocence.

“I’m not here to portray my son as perfect because he isn’t. He made mistakes in his past, just like we all do.”

She went on to say that he “may not have been completely honest about certain things,” citing the fact that he denied being violent toward his ex-girlfriend, R&B singer Cassie settled their lawsuit out of court months before CNN Broadcasting hotel security footage Combs can be seen punching, kicking and throwing her to the ground.

Ms. Combs said she believes the federal government used his decision to settle out of court “by interpreting it as an admission of guilt.”

The indictment alleges that since at least 2008, Combs “abused, threatened and coerced women and others around him in order to fulfill his sexual desires, protect his reputation and conceal his behavior.”

Then on October 1, Houston attorney Tony Buzbee announced that he would file sexual assault, sexual abuse and sexual exploitation lawsuits on behalf of 120 accusers – 60 men and 60 women.

Mr. Combs has denied all claims against him.

“It is important to recognize that none of us, regardless of status, are immune to fears or mistakes,” Ms. Combs wrote.

“If I am not completely clear on something, it does not mean that my son is guilty of the vile allegations and the serious allegations made against him.”

She said: “Seeing the world joke and laugh at my son's life crumbling before our eyes is something I can never forget” and that it was “really excruciating to watch the world change turns against my son so quickly and easily.”

Ms Combs also claimed that those making allegations against him were “seeking financial gain, not justice” and that the federal government was “using these lies to prosecute my son.”

Mr. Buzbee, who said he expected the 120 lawsuits to be filed next month, said the alleged sex crimes against his clients had left them “hurt, frightened and scarred.”

Ms Combs concluded: “My son is not the monster they made him out to be and he deserves the chance to speak his side. I can only pray that I am alive to see him speak his truth and be vindicated.”

“I come to you today as a mother who is devastated and deeply saddened by the allegations against my son Sean Combs. It is heartbreaking to see my son being judged not for the truth, but for a narrative made up of lies.”
