Packers fan warned, not ejected, after rejecting Texans' Lambeau Leap celebration

GREEN BAY (WLUK) — Officials are providing more clarity about an altercation between a Houston Texans player and a Green Bay Packers fan during Sunday's game at Lambeau Field.

After one of Joe Mixon's scores for Houston in the second quarter, the running back attempted a classic Packers celebration with a single Texans fan in the stands: a Lambeau Leap.

However, his Lambeau jump failed, thanks in part to a Packers fan in the front row who pinned Mixon to the ground by his helmet.

Rumors circulated on social media that the unidentified fan had been ejected from the game, but Packers and Green Bay Police Department officials refuted that claim.

Packers officials say that after the attempted Lambeau jump, security and police reviewed video of the incident and called it “inconclusive.” Instead of ejecting the fan, police verbally warned him about his behavior and allowed him to return his seat.

Another fan, though Was thrown out of the game.

“There were two separate incidents involving fans that occurred almost simultaneously in the same section, which may have caused confusion as to the actions of those investigating each incident,” said Katie Hermsen, public affairs manager for the Packers.

“At the time of the attempted Lambeau jump… there was another incident nearby involving another fan. That fan ended up being thrown out,” Hermsen added.
