Patriots rival clear contender for star

Davante Adams wants out of the desert and the Las Vegas Raiders will reportedly honor his wish.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Tuesday that the Raiders have informed teams around the NFL that they would “consider” trading the disgruntled star wide receiver for a second-round draft pick and additional compensation.

Some teams couldn't wait to sign a player of Adams' caliber – he's a three-time All-Pro and six-time Pro Bowler. The New England Patriots desperately need a dynamic outside threat, but it seems unlikely they would find the draft capital in the midst of a full rebuilding season to sign Adams, who is making $17.5 million this season, but with He will earn $36.25 million more than double for the 2025 and 2026 seasons.

Those salaries may deter some potential suitors, but Adams' great talent could force teams to turn a blind eye to the money in hopes of landing a game-changing wideout.

So which teams could Adams be traded to in the near future? Here are four possible destinations for Adams, including a Patriots rival that makes a lot of sense.

New York Jets
The Patriots' rivals are the JETS. And Adams' connection to the Jets stems from the 40-year-old quarterback New York employs.

Adams and Aaron Rodgers played together with the Green Bay Packers for eight seasons in which Adams and Rodgers performed tremendously. During his time with the Packers, Adams recorded 669 receptions for 8,121 yards and 73 touchdowns.

The Jets are certainly in win-now mode with the league's oldest starting quarterback under center and maximizing their window is a top priority. They've already attempted to make a big trade this offseason by trading pass rusher Haason Reddick, but he's holding off due to a contract dispute. Maybe it's time for New York to make another blockbuster transfer on the other side of the ball.

The Jets would obviously like to reunite Adams and Rodgers to boost New York's offense, which has been lackluster for four weeks. And it appears that Adams would also be in the mood to play for the Jets, as he was asked on Tuesday's “Up and Adams” if he misses playing with Rodgers.

“How could you not do that?” Adams said, according to CBS Sports.

Pittsburgh Steelers
The Steelers already failed to land a big-name wide receiver when they couldn't complete a deal for San Francisco 49ers pass catcher Brandon Aiyuk.

That was before the Steelers began the season with three straight wins before losing to the Indianapolis Colts last Sunday. But a 3-1 start behind surprising play from Justin Fields and a strong defensive unit could lead Pittsburgh to buy aggressively ahead of the Nov. 5 NFL trade deadline.

Adding a playmaker like Adams would certainly help continue Fields' turnaround. The Steelers don't have another strong wide receiver to play against George Pickens, and Adams' presence in this offense would take it to a new level.

Washington commanders
The Commanders, like the Steelers, would be another team trying to build off a strong start.

Rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels has certainly had an impressive performance in just four games of his NFL career – 82.1% completion rate, 897 yards passing, three passing touchdowns, one interception, four rushing touchdowns – and that's only with a premier wide Receiver Terry McLaurin throws.

Throw in Adams, who caught 18 passes for 209 yards and a touchdown with the Raiders this season, and Washington's big-play potential skyrockets even further.

The Commanders are currently in first place in a wide-open NFC East and acquiring Adams would go a long way toward keeping them in that spot.

Kansas City Chiefs
All of the other 31 NFL teams will have to fight against the Chiefs getting a shiny new toy for Patrick Mahomes.

But with fears that the dynamic Rashee Rice tore his ACL last Sunday against the Chargers and Hollywood Brown is expected to miss the season, the Chiefs have an opportunity to target Adams with NFL history in a three-pointer – Peat on the line.

Kansas City's wide receiver group currently consists of rookie Xavier Worthy, Justin Watson, Skyy Moore, JuJu Smith-Schuster and Mecole Hardman.

No NFL team will fear that. But put Adams' name in front of this group and it becomes a nightmare for the rest of the league.
