Photos show destruction in Florida


Hurricane Milton hit Florida on Wednesday evening, flooding streets, felling trees and destroying homes and buildings.

Flooded streets. Fallen trees. Destroyed houses and buildings.

These are the aftermath of Hurricane Milton, which ripped a path of destruction through much of Florida after its doomed landfall on Wednesday evening. On Thursday morning, first responders and residents who were unable or unwilling to flee were only beginning to realize the extent of the devastation caused by the powerful storm as it hit the state at a Category 3.

On Thursday morning, millions of people were without power and at least two died. Photos depict the devastation in grim form, highlighting not only the damage itself, but also the people now forced to pick up the rubble of their devastated communities while still suffering from Hurricane Helene, which struck less than two weeks earlier.
