This matchup marks Keefe's first game against the Maple Leafs since his release this offseason. Although it's only the Devils' third game of the season, they're off to a hot start after defeating the Buffalo Sabers in the NHL Global Series in Prague.

The Maple Leafs come into this game hoping to bounce back from their season-opening loss to the Montreal Canadiens, which ended their 227-game streak without a shutout.

After signing Craig Berube in the offseason, the team is still learning Berube's style of hockey, which is difficult to play against.

On the other hand, the Devils are excited to introduce their revamped squad.

Tom Fitzgerald had a very busy offseason after signing Keefe, which left him with a much-improved roster. Targeting the blue line, he not only added depth, but also gave Keefe three solid defensive pairings, something he lacked during his time with the Maple Leafs.

For Keefe, facing his former team will undoubtedly provide an added layer of intensity. Once the puck drops, fans can expect an electric atmosphere filled with experienced players on both sides that could lead to a very high-scoring game.
