Rachel Yaffe, a former Baltimore County DI lacrosse player who documented her life with cancer on social media, dies at 27

Rachel Yaffe, a former standout Baltimore County lacrosse player who documented her life with cancer on social media, died Friday. She was 27.

Yaffe grew up in Lutherville and graduated from St. Paul's School in 2015. In 2016, she played lacrosse at George Washington University.

According to an obituary from Sol Levinson & Bros Funeral Home, she is survived by her parents Linda and Wayne Yaffe, her brother Jordan Yaffe, her sister Jessica Yaffe, her grandmother Sydney Bass and her dog Layla. The funeral service will be private.

Yaffe opened up to over 60,000 followers on her TikTok and Instagram accounts about her battle with liver cancer since she was diagnosed at age 20.

“I'm from the suburbs of Baltimore and just moved from LA to NYC a few months ago,” she wrote in a December 2023 Instagram post. “I was diagnosed with stage 4 chronic rare liver cancer over 6 years ago.”
