Road weather warnings were issued for several highways until Friday evening

SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — Thursday's wet morning commute triggers two days of potentially slippery and dangerous driving conditions in Utah, particularly for those in higher elevations or on valley banks.

The Utah Department of Transportation initially expects over 8,000 to 8,500 feet of snowfall only on the highest mountain ranges.

Rain will be the primary concern at lower elevations, particularly along the Wasatch Front, where heavy and persistent precipitation may result in standing water on roads.

Overnight temperatures are expected to reduce the amount of snow, and drivers may notice snow and slush on the road in banks Friday morning.

There will be showers in the remaining metropolitan areas, but probably no snow on the roads.

The weather is expected to continue over southeastern Utah through the weekend before dissipating on Sunday.
