Rob Marciano returns to social media after GMA scandal and firing

Rob Marciano says he's going back to work in his social media return after the 371 workplace scandal

meteorologist Rob Marciano has returned to social media for the first time since his workplace scandal and subsequent firing.

“Back to work…be safe, Florida 🙏“,” Marciano, 56, wrote via Instagram on Wednesday, October 9, sharing a screenshot of himself in a CBS News windbreaker while covering the weather in Tampa.

He added the hashtags “Milton” and “CBS News” to his post, referring to the hurricane and the news outlet, respectively. Marciano also shared the upload via his Instagram Stories. It's Marciano's first post since April.

Earlier this month, it was announced that Marciano would be joining CBS nearly six months after his firing Good morning America. (According to the television journalist's Instagram bio, his official title at CBS News is National Weather Correspondent.)

The weatherman had been working GMA For 10 years, starting in 2014, when he was given the task of staffing the weekend shifts. In September 2023, he switched to a traditional Monday-Friday schedule.

“This month marks the start of my tenth year at ABC News, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to continue this journey with all of you. As a child, I always dreamed of working for this station and my children are just as excited that I will now be home most weekends,” says Marciano, who has two children with his ex-wife Erynwrote on Instagram at the time. “I will continue to do what I do and contribute to all ABC shows and platforms Monday to Friday while having more time with my children on the weekends. My thanks go to the bosses who listened and made this work-life balance possible.”

In April of this year, Marciano was fired from the network due to alleged behavioral and anger issues. Neither ABC, the parent network of GMAAt that time, Marciano still addressed the allegations.

“He was nice, but he wasn’t everyone’s cup of tea,” claimed Sharma People in May. “There were always stories about him and his temperament. No one who has worked with him or observed his behavior is surprised by this.”

However, another former colleague of his had a different perspective, claiming anonymously to the outlet that Marciano was “always positive” in the workplace.

While Marciano never publicly addressed the scandal, allegations or firing, he described a “spiritual awakening” in one of his recent social media posts.

“A total solar eclipse will definitely give you pause if you don't change some of your wiring,” he wrote in April. “Thoughts about how everything came to be and our place in the universe. Is there a higher power that controls all of these great alignments? Or is it all just a coincidence?”

He added: “With a scientific focus, I naturally question almost everything. After all, science is driven by skepticism. Proving a hypothesis is always the end goal. And that day the proof came. …This revelation on a mostly cloudy afternoon at Niagara Falls changed my belief system forever. The clouds were threatening. But as the eclipse neared totality, the huge crowds that had gathered on both the New York and Canadian sides of the falls began to act like the crowd at a sporting event… and erupted in cheers as everyone A ray of sunshine penetrated the cloud cover. ”
