Robbie Williams tells his life story as a CGI monkey

Here's your first look at it Better man, the musical biopic based on the life of former Take That frontman Robbie Williams. Check out the teaser trailer above.

Better man It is directed by Michael Gracey, who is best known for The greatest showmanwritten by Simon Gleeson and Oliver Cole together with Gracey. It stars Jonno Davies, Steve Pemberton, Damon Herriman, Raechelle Banno, Alison Steadman, Kate Mulvaney, Frazer Hadfield, Tom Budge and Anthony Hayes. Williams is of course also there, but in the film he is portrayed by a CGI monkey. The 90s rocker tells the story.

Better man is based on the true story of the meteoric rise, dramatic fall and remarkable resurgence of British pop superstar Williams. The film is uniquely told from Williams' perspective and captures his trademark wit and indomitable spirit. It follows Robbie's journey from childhood to becoming the youngest member of the successful boy band Take That to his record-breaking solo career – all while facing the challenges that astronomical fame and success can bring.

Better man was produced by Paul Currie, Michael Gracey, Coco Xiaolu Ma, Jules Daly and Craig McMahon. Executive producers include Zhe Chen, Williams, Markus Barmettler, Philip Lee, Li-Wei Chu and Michael Loney.

Better man debuted in Telluride, where Deadline's Baz Bamigboye spoke with Williams on the floor. Deadline's Pete Hammond reviewed the film at the Colorado festival and described the flick as “extremely imaginative.”
