Romulus sets dates for digital and physical releases

“Alien: Romulus” will soon invade your living room, just like the creature that emerges from the chest cavity of Navarro (Aileen Wu) — and just about everyone else unlucky enough to come across one in the “Alien” franchise Meet Xenomorph.

The seventh installment in the 45-year-old “Alien” film series arrives on Prime Video, Apple TV and Fandango at Home on October 15th before arriving on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD on December 3rd In the upcoming release, Wu discusses the logistics of harboring a newborn alien.

“I really have the easiest job,” Wu said in an interview. “I just have to lie there and scream.” She then reveals the magic of the film, which comes to life with the realization of a chest-bursting scene, including the construction of a fake torso and the assembly of a team of puppeteers, to pilot the creature through “the little door whose ribs are broken.”

Directed by Fede Álvarez, Alien: Romulus follows a group of young workers who decide to loot parts from an abandoned spaceship orbiting above their alien mining colony. Upon their arrival, they inadvertently release a colony of Face Huggers that were stored decades earlier for research purposes. Wu stars alongside Cailee Spaeny, David Jonsson, Archie Renaux, Isabela Merced and Spike Fearn.

The 4K release comes as a double-disc SteelBook with custom artwork and bonus features including interviews with Álvarez and Ridley Scott, behind-the-scenes footage, and alternate and extended scenes. “Romulus” will also be released as a two-film digital bundle with the original “Alien,” which celebrates its 45th anniversary this year.
