NEW YORK – The Guardians have announced the roster they will take to the American League Championship Series to face the New York Yankees.

When the Guardians fielded their ALDS roster against the Detroit Tigers, they opted to carry one player at an additional position and only 12 pitchers. They knew the added flexibility in pinch-hitting would be valuable against the Tigers' pitching chaos strategy, so Cleveland adjusted its plans to fit the way it normally would have assembled the roster.

In preparation for the Yankees and a best-of-seven series, the Guardians have again made adjustments and made a change from the ALDS roster as they will now have 13 pitchers. Pedro Avila, who was cut from the ALDS roster, will now be available out of the bullpen in place of Angel Martinez, who was the extra utility man on the bench. That was originally going to be Tyler Freeman until he was sidelined with an oblique injury.
