Sanju Samson tees off: one over, five sixes

On Saturday evening, India posted their highest 10-over score in men's T20Is against Bangladesh in Hyderabad, Sanju Samson completed 100 in 40 balls – the second fastest for an Indian batsman – and Bangladesh faced a mammoth chase. Much of this was down to a 30-run tenth when Samson, aided by some poor lengths, chased leg-spinner Rishad Hossain. Here's how Sidharth Monga called the sixy over in ESPNcricinfo's ball-by-ball commentary.

9.1, Rishad Hossain to Samson, no run
Good length, no turn, hits his slog, hits the pad but goes head down

9.2, Rishad Hossain to Samson, SIX runs
Too crowded as it was often the last game. Samson blocks the front leg and pulls it back over the head for another casual-looking six

9.3, Rishad Hossain to Samson, SIX runs
He has his way with Hossain. Again right in the drop zone. This is bad spin bowling. You can't bowl so full that a batsman can hit you to the ground without using his feet. This time it goes far beyond the distance

9.4, Rishad Hossain to Samson, SIX runs
Completely straight, lower in the trajectory, but a third six in a row. Here, too, Samson doesn't even have to make any effort. Not a half-volley, but that's a real shot

9.5, Rishad Hossain to Samson, SIX runs
Goes into the air slower, but gives him another half volley. This is just average bowling. He clears the front leg and goes long-on for the fourth time in a row

Around the wicket.

9.6, Rishad Hossain to Samson, SIX runs
That's five sixes in a row. Not a bad ball, but Samson goes deep into the crease to pull it with a vertical bat and goes over deep midwicket for a small six. Does it matter if it's the fifth in the over? Samson in the 90s
