The New Orleans Saints and Denver Broncos will meet briefly at the start of Week 7 on “Thursday Night Football.”

Both teams are coming off divisional defeats and are eager to get back on the winning list. The Saints (2-4) are coming off another tough loss, this time against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Saints allowed 51 points to the Buccaneers, and Spencer Rattler started for the first time in his NFL career in place of the injured Derek Carr.

The Saints' rookie quarterback has his hands full against a Broncos defense that ranks fourth in yards allowed per game. However, Denver will be without star cornerback Patrick Surtain II, who suffered a concussion on the first defensive tackle in Denver's Week 6 loss. New Orleans has lost four straight after opening the season with two stunning victories.

Denver's offense was incompatible with that of rookie quarterback Bo Nix. In three of the six matches this season it remained goalless in the first half. Head coach Sean Payton will be on the opposing sideline against the Saints for the first time after coaching New Orleans for 15 seasons.

USA TODAY Sports will provide live updates, highlights and more from the Week 7 “Thursday Night Football” matchup below:

The Saints made a few plays after Wil Lutz's long field goal, but ultimately ended the half with a quarterback knee.

At the start of the second half, New Orleans receives the ball.

The former Saints kicker has a 3-3 field goal record against his old team. His last was a 52-yard kick that pushed the Broncos' lead back to 13 points.

It's 16-3 Denver with 16 seconds remaining in the first half.

New Orleans' drive stalled immediately after Spencer Rattler's big gain at the Denver 17-yard line. However, Grupe scored his first field goal attempt of the game from 35 yards out, giving his team its first points.

It's 13-3 for the Broncos with just under two minutes remaining in the half.

Rattler slipped on his dropback after a play-action fake, but was able to escape further pressure from Denver. After breaking the pocket, he pocketed the ball and ran left for 28 yards and a first down. It was the Saints' longest run of the night so far.

New Orleans has the ball just outside the red zone with three minutes left in the first half.

Just a few plays after Troy Franklin's big lead, Williams took a handoff for an 8-yard rush into the end zone. The running back remained completely unaffected by the score and continued to extend the Broncos' lead.

Midway through the second quarter, Denver is up 13-0.

The rookie-to-rookie connection between Bo Nix and his former college teammate puts the Broncos in the red zone once again. The pass is Nix's longest completion of the night.

The Saints cornerback went down on the Broncos' fourth play, a 9-yard reception from Javonte Williams. Adebo had to be carted off the field. There was a blast of air on his leg.

Updates on injuries will be provided as they become available.

Williams unleashed his longest run of the night after the Broncos took possession of the ball following a New Orleans punt. His long rush took Denver ahead to its own 38-yard line as it continued its second drive of the second quarter.

Williams has been one of both teams' most productive players in the game so far. He gained up to 49 yards on six carries (8.2 yards per carry) and 15 yards on two catches.

Spencer Rattler attempted to scramble when he again felt pressure from the Broncos' pass rush on the first play of the Saints' next possession. The rush came home for a strip sack, and Cody Barton picked up the ball for an apparent fumble touchdown recovery. However, the play was overturned due to an offside penalty by DJ Jones early in the play.

One possession after he started scoring, Lutz kicked another field goal – this one from 32 yards out – to give the Broncos a 6-0 lead.

After the takeaway, Denver drives the ball in the red zone as the game enters the second quarter. The Broncos will have a first-and-10 from the Saints' 17-yard line to start the second quarter.

Linebacker Cody Barton put pressure on rookie quarterback Spencer Rattler on the fourth play of the Saints' second drive. He managed to knock the ball out of Rattler's hand before he began throwing, and Kwon Alexander recovered the fumble further down the field.

Denver takes possession of the ball at its own 45-yard line.

After an eight-play Broncos drive stalled at the New Orleans 28-yard line, Lutz came out and split the uprights on a 46-yard field goal. The kick gave Denver the lead over Lutz's old team; It's 3-0 for the Broncos with five and a half minutes left in the first quarter.

These interconference opponents have met twelve times in history. The Broncos lead the all-time matchup with a record of 9-3. The last duel took place in November 2020, when the Saints won away in Denver 31-3. The quarterback matchup that day was Taysom Hill for the Saints and Kendall Hinton for the Broncos. Hill started for the injured Drew Brese and Hinton was known as the practice squad receiver forced into action when all of Denver's quarterbacks were placed on the Covid-19 list.

For the first time since January 2, 2022, Sean Payton will be on the sidelines of Caesars Superdome in New Orleans. The Denver Broncos coach returns this week on “Thursday Night Football” to the place where he spent 15 seasons as head coach and the all-time winningest coach in Saints franchise history.

Andrew Marchand of the New York Post initially reported that Michaels' contract would be for three years and “more than $30 million,” but that number may have increased. About a week after that initial report, in March 2022, Marchand shared that the Amazon deal would be “in Joe Buck's neighborhood.” Buck signed a five-year, $75 million ($15 million per year) contract with ESPN earlier that same month.

We have a complete list at each position:

According to OverTheCap.com, the NFL's top 18 players with average annual salary are all quarterbacks. Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott became the league's highest-paid player on Sunday morning, agreeing to a four-year, $240 million contract. Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson has become the first non-quarterback on the highest-paid list after receiving a four-year, $140 million contract extension this offseason.
