Seven Saturday games that could impact BYU in the AP poll

BYU is 7-0 and firmly in the Big 12 title race and in first place. 13 in the country. The Cougars have the day off while the rest of the country is in action. There are several games coming up on Saturday that could impact BYU's ranking in the AP Poll. Today we'll go over the top seven games that could impact BYU's rankings on Sunday.

Time: 1:30 p.m. MT
Network: ABC

Both Alabama and Tennessee have one loss this season. The loser of this game will fall behind BYU in the rankings.

The Big 12 needs ACC leaders Miami and Clemson to lose. Miami has miraculously avoided defeat twice in its last two games. The Canes face one of their biggest remaining challenges of the season today on the road at Louisville.

A loss would likely drop Miami behind BYU in the AP poll and also open the door to the Big 12 champion being seeded ahead of the ACC champion in the College Football Playoff.

Notre Dame has one great win over Texas A&M and only one terrible loss to Northern Illinois. The Fighting Irish faced a tough test on the road at Georgia Tech, but Georgia Tech quarterback Haynes King will not play in that game. The Fighting Irish have a two-touchdown advantage.

LSU won an exciting matchup against Ole Miss last week. The Tigers, already coming off a loss, face a test Saturday at Arkansas. According to oddsmakers, this is a bad decision – LSU has the advantage with a field goal.

The Razorbacks (who lost to Oklahoma State, by the way) were a tough opponent in SEC play. They are 2-1 in conference play and their only loss was a narrow loss to Texas A&M.

It's probably best for the perception of the Big 12 if Iowa State wins this game. In terms of BYU's conference title hopes, it would help if the Cyclones suffered a loss. A loss at Iowa State (although unlikely) would allow BYU to move up a spot in the rankings and make BYU the front-runner in the Big 12 title race.

BYU's best win is currently against No. 17 Kansas State. Without the loss in Provo, Kansas State would be a top 10 team right now. A Kansas State win over West Virginia would do two things:

1. Boost BYU's resume
2. Eliminate WVU in the Big 12 title race

This game probably won't have an impact on BYU's AP rankings this week, but it could happen later. If Indiana goes undefeated in the Big Ten, they will eventually overtake BYU. A Nebraska win over Indiana could help BYU in the long run.
