Sixers-Timberwolves meet in Iowa in a preseason game you may not be able to watch

The Sixers are in Iowa to take on the Minnesota Timberwolves in preseason action on Friday night.

Paul George will make his preseason debut, but if you want PG to take the floor in a Sixers jersey, it could be difficult. NBC Sports Philadelphia will not broadcast preseason away games. The Timberwolves' broadcast partner, Bally Sports North, also did not send a broadcast team to Iowa. According to reports, the only way to watch the game is through League Pass, which provides the in-arena feed. Less than ideal. It's disappointing that someone hasn't found a solution to broadcast George's debut in the Delaware Valley.

Unfortunately, the Sixers will be playing a game and you may or may not be able to watch.

Although George will play, Joel Embiid has not made the trip, according to The Inquirer's Keith Pompey. According to the nurse, Embiid is undergoing “a scheduled exam” of his surgically repaired knee. According to Nurse, this was all part of Embiid's rebuilding plan as the team puts it into action.

Everyone else should be available to the Sixers. Tyrese Maxey had little time against the New Zealand Breakers on Monday. The All-Star guard seemed to have the non-NBA competition completely under control. With Embiid not playing, expect to see Andre Drummond in abundance. Behind him, it looks like Nurse plans to use Guerschon Yabusele as a small-ball five. This strategy will be tested a bit against a bigger and more athletic Minnesota team.

It doesn't appear that superstar guard Anthony Edwards or newcomer Julius Randle will be available Friday night. It looks like an easy off night for Edwards. Randle, acquired as part of the blockbuster deal that sent Karl-Anthony Towns to the Knicks, is still recovering from right shoulder surgery. Rudy Gobert should provide a good test for Drummond and Yabusele.
