Stay tuned for pleasant fall weather this weekend

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – Cool nights and mornings will continue into the weekend, giving way to sunny, warm and pleasant afternoons on both Saturday and Sunday. A cold front is coming on Monday that could dump a shower; The big story of this front will be the colder temperatures that will arrive mid-week next week.

Lows will fall into the 40s and 50s overnight, all under clear skies and light winds.

Picture perfect, autumn weather expected this weekend. Afternoon highs on Saturday will warm into the lower 80s, while afternoon highs on Sunday will rise back into the upper 80s.

Sunny skies with just a few fair weather clouds are expected both days this weekend. The wind will shift from northwest to southwest again on Saturday. Overnight lows will be in the 50s and 60s.

A cold front is expected to move across the region on Monday. That could force a shower or two, but the front looks mostly dry as it passes. There will be a chance for some clouds next week, with highs staying in the mid to upper 80s and lows staying in the 50s and 60s.

The big story on the aforementioned front will be the drop in temperature. The coldest air of the fall season will arrive. Afternoon highs on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday will be in the low to mid 70s, with overnight lows in the 40s and 50s. Every day has sunny afternoons and clear nights.

First Alert Update: The forecast looks poor for the next 7 to 10 days. We could use the rain, as the latest drought monitor issued Thursday morning shows unusual to moderate drought conditions across much of Alabama. Which will only get worse as the drought continues.

On the trail of the tropics: Milton has officially dissipated and is no longer being tracked by the National Hurricane Center.

Tropical Storm Leslie is still raging in the Atlantic. The movement is north and then east, meaning it stays in the ocean and has NO impact on the United States.

The NHC is monitoring a potential area that has a medium probability of development over the next week. The area they observed is off the coast of Africa and thousands of miles from the United States.
