Steelers make roster changes

The Steelers signed running back Aaron Shampklin from the practice squad to the 53-man roster

Shampklin was with the team throughout the offseason and preseason and was then signed to the practice squad. Shampkin was elevated from the practice squad to the active/inactive squad for the Colts game and had one carry for five yards.

Shampklin originally joined the Steelers when he signed a reserve/future contract at the end of the 2023 season. He previously spent time with the Los Angeles Chargers in 2023 and also spent part of the 2022 season with the Indianapolis Colts and Dallas Cowboys.

He played at Harvard, where he was a two-time All-Ivy League selection and led the league with a rushing average of 92.8 yards per game in 2021. He finished his career with 402 carries for 2,251 yards and 23 touchdowns.

The Steelers also signed linebacker Jacoby Windmon to the practice squad.

Windmon was originally signed by the Steelers as an undrafted free agent following the 2024 NFL Draft.

Windmon appeared in 41 career games and played two seasons at Michigan State after transferring from UNLV. He played in 11 games and recorded 64 tackles, including 23 solo stops. He had 12.5 tackles for a loss and six and a half sacks. He also had six forced fumbles, three pass defenses and one interception.

Additionally, linebacker Jeremiah Moon returns to practice although he is still on the reserve/injured list.

The Steelers have a 21-day window to either add him to the 53-man roster or he will remain on the reserve/injured list for the remainder of the year.

Moon was placed on the reserve/injured list (designated to return) before the start of the regular season.

The Steelers claimed Moon off waivers from the Baltimore Ravens at the end of the 2023 season. Moon originally signed with the Ravens as an undrafted free agent following the 2022 NFL Draft.

Moon spent his rookie season on the Ravens' practice squad. In 2023 he was on the active squad and the training squad and appeared in eight games, including one in the starting lineup. He finished the 2023 season with 10 tackles, including four solo stops, and one tackle for a loss. He added two special teams tackles and a forced fumble
