Super Bowl 2025 odds: The Chiefs have a new top contender, while the 49ers fall and the Ravens rise

The Baltimore Ravens' win on Monday night moved them into a crucial second place in the Super Bowl odds at +600 at BetMGM, just behind their AFC rivals the Kansas City Chiefs (+425). As of last week, the San Francisco 49ers, who were tied for second place with the Ravens at +700 odds, have fallen to +900, leaving the Ravens as the Chiefs' only top opponent. Currently.

When you look at the Super Bowl odds after Week 7, you get a sense of déjà vu: Is it January 28th again? The four teams that reached the AFC and NFC championship games last season are the four teams with the highest odds to win the Super Bowl: The Chiefs (+425), Ravens (+600), Detroit Lions (+750), and 49ers (+900).

After Week 7, the Lions overtook the Buffalo Bills (+1000) and had a chance to complete this familiar foursome at the top heading into Week 8 of the NFL.

But how long will San Francisco last after a devastating week of injuries? And what about the rest of the field? Are the Cincinnati Bengals cooked? Could the Russell Wilson-led Pittsburgh Steelers pose a new threat in the AFC? Over in the NFC, it's a carnival of possibilities, with the 49ers' problems blowing the lid: Sure, the Lions and Minnesota Vikings make very strong cases for being NFC powerhouses this year, but what about the Green Bay Packers and? Philadelphia Eagles? Was the Seattle Seahawks launch an incident? And then of course there are these aspiring Washington Commanders.

Here's the latest on the Super Bowl odds as the rubble from Week 7 clears.

Super Bowl 2025 odds

One of the main games of Week 7 was a “Super Bowl rematch” between the Chiefs and the 49ers. It was a pivotal moment in the season and the Chiefs were decisive. Their odds remained almost stable compared to last week, increasing slightly from +475 to +425.

Steady is the word for this undefeated Chiefs team that delivers slow-paced performances that get the job done without any thrills or frills. With their 28-18 win over the struggling Niners, the Chiefs cemented themselves as Super Bowl favorites and became the league's only remaining undefeated team.

Meanwhile, the 49ers not only lost the Super Bowl second leg, but also star receiver Brandon Aiyuk, who is now out for the season due to a torn cruciate ligament. Their Super Bowl odds predictably fell from a tie for second place with the Ravens to fourth place. The Niners are currently 3-4, although their point differential is plus-22. They have the talent and training to be in much better shape, but injuries could create a barrier that San Fran won't be able to break this year.

The Ravens and Lions are trending in the opposite direction. After Week 7, the Ravens continued to close the gap on the Chiefs, with both teams appearing to be on track for an AFC Championship rematch in January. The Ravens are hot right now, but even if they cool off a bit, their Super Bowl chances will likely become even slimmer, especially if the Chiefs battle the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who the Ravens just defeated, in Week 9.

The Bills' chances remained the same through Week 7 after a very predictable win over the Tennessee Titans, but the Bills and Houston Texans are the best outside options to oust the Ravens or Chiefs. The Texans' odds rose from +1100 to +1500 after losing to the Packers, who are now tied with the Vikings at +1400.

Speaking of the Packers, the state of the NFC is fascinating right now. The aforementioned Lions are the third favorite to win the Super Bowl after handing the Vikings their first loss of the season. But the Vikings are an excellent choice to at least reach the Super Bowl this year. Was the duel against Detroit a real blast or just a hard-fought game on both sides with two fantastic opponents?

Perhaps the most interesting surprise candidate in the NFC are the Commanders. With odds of +3500 they are still a long way off with the Atlanta Falcons. Of course, their biggest challenge to secure a playoff spot is the division rival Eagles, who have experience and are +1600 to win the Super Bowl. The teams will play each other in Week 11.

A few dark options in the AFC include the Bengals, who are finally gaining momentum after a terrible start, and the Steelers. The Bengals have already lost to the Chiefs and Ravens and at this point they can't afford to lose any more if they want to secure a spot in the wild card playoffs. The AFC North is impressive, with the Bengals third behind the Ravens and Steelers, who looked like real contenders in Wilson's first game of the season against Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets. But then the Jets are just… maybe really bad?
