Texas vs. Oklahoma: Governors Greg Abbott and Kevin Stitt make a bet. What is at stake?

Texas football's Red River Rivalry game against Oklahoma will bring additional risks for two prominent politicians.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott challenged Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt to a bet on social media Friday morning.

If the Longhorns win, Abbott said he will send Stitt some Railhead BBQ and Lone Star beer. Stitt responded with a bet on some Oklahoma steaks and Oklahoma craft beer.

“I’m 4-1 against the Short Horns,” Stitt said in a video posted on X. “Boomer Sooner, we’re going to get down there and take care of business again this year.”

Stitt ended his video message with a “horns down” hand gesture.

Abbott graduated from Texas in 1981 before attending law school at Vanderbilt. Stitt attended Oklahoma State.

The Longhorns (5-0, 1-0 SEC) and Sooners (4-1, 1-1) will kick off in the Cotton Bowl in Dallas on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ABC.
