The club could break the regular season points record in the final

Real Salt Lake ends the regular season at home against the Vancouver Whitecaps on Saturday evening. The RSL club record for most points in a season is 57 points in 2012 and with a draw on Saturday RSL sets the record. With a win, RSL would break the record and finish with 59 points.

In this episode of Talkin' Real, Justin Glad and Zac MacMath explain what a club-record 59-point season would mean for them, and head coach Pablo Mastroeni explains why he presented the record to the group before the game in San Jose. Pablo took them two at a time, but he had his reasons. Dunny has the “other” record of all time.

Real Salt Lake now has 56 points, thanks in part to the fact that they posted back-to-back shutouts for the first time since April. How did they manage to keep two clean sheets after conceding nine goals in a three-game week? Pablo, Zac and Justin all have their reasons.

David James and Brian Dunseth also take a look at LAFC's 2-1 win in Vancouver, which gave LAFC a top-two finish in the West. RSL and Seattle both have 56 points and Seattle has the tiebreaker advantage, so RSL will finish fourth if they get the same or worse result than Seattle. RSL will finish third if they achieve a better result than the Sounders. Seattle hosts rival Portland in a Cascadia Cup game, while RSL hosts Vancouver.

Dunny also comments on the USA's 2-0 loss to Mexico and tells a funny story about sitting in Shaq's giant chair at the Turner Network studios in Atlanta. Watch Talkin' Real here and watch it every Thursday night at 10:35pm on KMYU.
