The Houston Texans lose a heartbreaker in Lambeau

The Houston Texans lose a heartbreaker in Lambeau

The whole Sunday was a mystery. The end result was predictable, but the path to that end result was not. Entering the game, the Texans were missing five of their defensive starters. It showed that with Josh Jacobs and the passing game under center, the Packers were capable of destroying the Texans up the middle. The Packers defense blocked the Texans passing game for most of the game as the Texans offensive line seemingly took the afternoon off.

Flip the script and you have the Texans' most wins from the first six weeks. The Packers thoroughly dominated the game and especially the line of scrimmage, but still found a way to make it a game. Part of that was due to a botched punt that turned into a Texans touchdown. Part of that was due to two key interceptions by Jordan Love in the first half.

They even allowed the Texans to take the lead in the fourth quarter, but the Cinderella story was for naught as the Packers did enough to pull out the win late. The Texans just didn't have enough against a really good football team that day. However, there were some very notable performances that we'll chew on throughout the week as the Texans prepare for their next game.

Joe Mixon played in four games as a Texan and ran for 100 or more yards in three of them. He added two more touchdowns on the day as he is on pace to score 10 or more touchdowns this season. He may not make Texans fans forget Arian Foster, but he is definitely the best defender the team has had since Foster.

Calen Bullock added his third interception of the season, making a case for Defensive Rookie of the Year honors. Last year's Defensive Rookie of the Year (Will Anderson) and his partner in crime tried their best to keep the Texans in the game until late in the game. It wasn't as big of a performance as it was against the Bills, but considering they didn't have any healthy linebackers, it was a gutsy performance.

Still, the coaching staff will tell you that there are no moral victories in the NFL. You would be right. It will be time to digest this and think about what could have been done differently to achieve a different result. However, the game didn't feel like that. It felt like you were undermanned and outmatched for most of the game. The Packers come away with a 24-22 win, but it should have been more one-sided.
