YUKON, Okla. (KFOR) – The Oklahoma Czech Festival returns to Yukon on Saturday, October 5th.

The festival celebrates the Yukon's Czech heritage with traditional food, dancing and activities.

“There’s so much going on this Saturday,” said Aspen Hein, 2023-2024 Oklahoma Czech-Slovak Queen. “It starts at 10 a.m. with a big parade and then there’s dancing all day by the Oklahoma Czech Slovak Dancers.”

The festival draws thousands to Main Street with traditional Koláče and Klobasy sausages prepared by Oklahoma Czechs, Inc. There will also be vendors, a craft fair and performances by polka bands and traditional Czech and Slovak folk dancers.

In addition to the celebrations, the Czech-Slovak royal family of Oklahoma will be crowned in 2024-2025. A new princess, prince, junior queen and queen will be selected as cultural ambassadors.

“These young women and young men work so hard for these titles,” Hein said.

The festival starts at 8 a.m. on Saturday and takes place mostly outdoors. The City of Yukon asks visitors not to bring their pets unless they are service animals.
