There is no escape in the latest trailer for Smile 2

This week it's time to grin again with the release of “Smile 2”. But there won't be many smiles from Naomi Scott in this film. She plays the curse's latest victim, Skye Riley, a pop star who is quickly achieving the fame of Taylor Swift. But as shown in the latest trailer for Smile 2, Skye's life spirals out of control as the curse falls upon her.

In the first “Smile” and its sequel, a creature appears as a human with an incredibly creepy smile and taunts its victims with their impending doom. Interestingly, the creature actually speaks to Skye twice in this trailer. The first time comes through Skye's friend – or possibly her lover – Gemma, who tells Skye that she deserves what's happening to her because she's “a terrible person.”

A man named Morris (Peter Jacobson) may be the only other person who knows what Skye is going through. Morris tells Skye that the creature is using whatever evil is in her mind to attack her. What he can't tell her is how to get rid of the creature and break the curse. And if Skye is near another person when she dies, the curse will simply be passed on to the next victim.

Parker Finn, the director and writer of the first Smile film, returned to direct and write the second film as well. Kyle Gallner reprises his role as Joel from the first film alongside franchise newcomers Rosemarie DeWitt, Lukas Gage, Miles Gutierrez-Riley, Raúl Castillo, Dylan Gelula, Ray Nicholson and Drew Barrymore.

“Smile 2” will hit theaters this Friday, October 18th. In the meantime, you may see more “Smile” promo cast members throughout the MLB playoffs, including the one who couldn't avoid getting out of character during a foul call.
