Titans start Mason Rudolph because of ailing Will Levis vs. Bills

BUFFALO, NY – The Tennessee Titans will use backup quarterback Mason Rudolph in place of Will Levis on Sunday against the Buffalo Bills.

Levis suffered a right shoulder injury in Tennessee's win over the Miami Dolphins in Week 4 and is inactive against the Bills.

Sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter that the injury was a Grade 2 AC sprain in the shoulder and Levis could be out beyond Sunday's game. The injury is expected to last four to five weeks and although Levis has suffered injuries in the past, this will be a week-to-week situation.

The Titans have named Trevor Siemian from the practice squad to Sunday's game day squad, and he will return to the practice squad after the game.

Levis was eligible to start after receiving a bye in the team's Week 6 loss to the Indianapolis Colts. But he said the injury limited him on some of his throws — particularly a pass that was intercepted by Colts safety Julian Blackmon.

Levis was limited at practice on Wednesday but was upgraded to a full participant on Thursday. Rudolph and Levis shared snaps from practice on Friday.

Tennessee will also be without cornerback L'Jarius Sneed, who suffered a quadriceps injury against the Colts last week. Tre Avery will start in place of Sneed and the Titans signed rookie Gabe Jeudy-Lally from the practice squad.

Rudolph, a seven-year veteran, started for Levis against the Dolphins and led the team to a 31-12 victory. He finished the game with 85 yards. It was the Titans' only win this season and the first time they scored more than 30 points since Jan. 2, 2022, when the team beat the Dolphins 34-3.

The Titans placed wide receiver Treylon Burks on injured reserve and signed defensive lineman Abdullah Anderson from the practice squad to the active roster on Saturday.
