The Tropics remain active as forecasters track disturbances in the Atlantic and Caribbean

National Hurricane Center forecasters continue to monitor progress Invest 94L in the Atlantic and a disturbance in the southwest Caribbean Sea for possible tropical development in the next few days.

Regardless of developments, heavy rain is possible in parts of the Caribbean and Central America over the next few days.

The 2024 Atlantic hurricane season is nearing its end

The hurricane season in the Atlantic basin is nearing its end and will go down in the record books as an unusual year. Impacts in the U.S. have been well above average, but many long-range hurricane forecasts appear to have missed the mark in predicting the number of storms, expecting nearly double what has happened so far.
