Tom Brady's LFG Player of the Game for Week 5: Cardinals QB Kyler Murray

For every game he broadcasts in 2024 NFL Season leading up to Super Bowl LIX, FOX Sports senior NFL analyst Tom Brady chooses an outstanding star as his LFG Player of the Match.

In Week 5, this award was given to Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray after Murray engineered a 13-point second-half comeback against the heavily favored San Francisco 49ers to secure a 24–23 victory. Watch Brady's full conversation with Murray below:

Brady was particularly impressed with how Murray brought his team together after last week's tough loss to the Washington Commanders, calling the 27-year-old a “great leader.”

“This one obviously flushed last week,” Murray told Brady. “We have the mindset to play against a division opponent here next week and win the game. Coming here and beating a great 49ers team is a great way to bounce back. And I'm proud of it.” Guys, man, we fought for 60 minutes. Man, it was one heck of a win.

Murray caught a 7-for-7 pass on the Cardinals' fourth-quarter touchdown drive. After Arizona got the ball back following a fumble by the 49ers' Jordan Mason, the former No. 1 pick totaled 41 yards (21 passing and 20 rushing yards) to set up the eventual game-winning field goal.

Murray finished the game with 195 passing yards, one passing touchdown and one interception. He also had seven rushing attempts for 83 yards, including a 50-yard rushing touchdown on the game's opening drive.

That touchdown run surprised Brady in the announce booth and it was the first thing Brady asked Murray about when he presented him with the LFG Player of the Game award this week. Murray explained that when he saw tight end Elijah Higgins blocking his path, he pointed his finger forward and knew he was about to score, even though he was still 45 yards from the end zone.

“It was kind of a spontaneous moment,” Murray explained. “Man, I want to say it was Nick (Bosa) who was (the defender) in the zone. I did it, I knew if Elijah could get that block I would be out and I would leave. That's how it was. “It's a good feeling to go out and open up, go out into space and show some speed, a little bit.”

Brady can understand most elements of good quarterback play – except for the game-breaking speed that Murray possesses. So the GOAT was curious when Murray realized he had this ability.

“It’s usually been like this since I was five years old,” Murray said, smiling.

The first LFG of the game went to the Cowboys pass rusher Micah Parsons In Week 1followed by star New Orleans Saints run back Alvin Kamara In Week 2, Baltimore Ravens Veteran RB Derrick Henry in Week 3 and Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Baker Mayfield in Week 4.
