Tom Holland says Spider-Man 4 will begin filming next summer

A new part of Tom Holland's Spider-Man universe is coming soon.

During an appearance on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon Holland made the announcement on Tuesday Spider Man 4 takes place officially.

“It’s happening,” he told Fallon. “We’ll start filming next summer. Everything is good. We're almost there. It's super exciting. Yes, I can’t wait.”

During a separate appearance on Good morning AmericaHolland teased the fourth film: “The idea is crazy. It’s a little different than anything we’ve done before, but I think the fans will really respond to it.”

In an interview on Rich Roll Podcast Last week, Holland shared that he and Zendaya had already read drafts of a script: “I read it three weeks ago and it really lit a fire in me. Zendaya and I sat down and read it, and sometimes we jumped around the living room and thought, “This is a real movie that deserves the respect of the fans.” But there are still a few things we need to figure out before we can really get this going, but it’s exciting.”

Last month, The Hollywood Reporter exclusively reported that Destin Daniel Cretton was in talks to direct the film, taking over the role from filmmaker Jon Watts.

Watts directed the previous three films starring Holland, while Marc Webb directed both Amazing Spider-Man Movies starring Andrew Garfield. Sam Raimi directed the trilogy starring Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst.

For Holland's fourth film, Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers are writing the script, while Marvel boss Kevin Feige and former Sony boss Amy Pascal are producing.

It is unclear what the story will be No way home ended with the world forgetting that teenage Peter Parker was Spider-Man, including MJ (Zendaya).

Holland, Zendaya and Jacob Batalon have starred in the three Spider-Man films – Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017), Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019) and Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021).

News from Spider Man 4 The film comes amidst Holland recently announcing that he will star alongside Matt Damon in Christopher Nolan's latest feature film. Nolan wrote the script and is directing the Universal project. The studio has set a release date of July 17, 2026.
