In a spectacular second half, Tottenham beat the dominant Premier League winners against local rivals West Ham in north London.

Hammers winger Mohammed Kudus scored the game's first goal in the 18th minute from a cross from Jarrod Bowen, having missed a similar chance moments earlier.

Midfielder Dejan Kulusevski gave Spurs a deserved equalizer, hitting both posts in the 36th minute.

But with Spurs already dominating in the first half, they took their game to new levels after the break when James Maddison was substituted for Pape Matar Sarr.

They scored just seven minutes later when Yves Bissouma finished off Destiny Udogie's putback to give Spurs the lead.

Son Heung-min, who had pulled the strings for the other goals, then saw his shot parried by Alphonse Areola, but his save was deflected into the goal by Jean-Clair Todibo.

The Korean scored five minutes later with a finish after the Hammers failed to clear a loose ball, but then hit the post with a similar chance when West Ham turned the ball over straight from the ensuing kick-off.

Notably, Kudus was sent off after VAR intervention by Christopher Kavanagh after he shoved both Sarr and Micky van de Ven in the face.

The result was what Spurs' impressive attacking play deserved and their second-half performance helps exorcise demons after the club blew a 2-0 lead at Brighton before the international break.

They lost that game 3-2 at the Amex Stadium – prompting Ange Postecoglou to describe the performance as his “worst defeat” since he became Spurs manager last summer.
