Travis Kelce's ex Kayla Nicole opens up about her fight with Brittany Mahomes

Kayla Nicole awkwardly discussed her run-ins with several Kansas City Chiefs WAGs — including former BFF Brittany Mahomes — during a recent appearance on Angel Reese's Unapologetically Angel podcast.

On Thursday's episode, the 22-year-old WNBA star asked the 32-year-old influencer if she remained “friends” with some of the women even after her split from Travis Kelce in 2022.

The question obviously surprised Nicole as she laughed uncomfortably and mumbled, “Mhm.”

However, the model made it clear that this was no longer the case.

“Yes I Was” she said.

When specifically asked if they were “still friends,” Nicole just giggled and then added, “We were cool (but) we're not as cool as we used to be.”

The sports reporter, who has been dating Kelce since 2017, explained that the transition was particularly “hard” because she was so close to some women.

“It was like a family,” she said.

Although Nicole didn't name Mahomes specifically, she and the 29-year-old were once thick as thieves.

In fact, Nicole served as one of Mahomes' bridesmaids during her 2022 wedding to Patrick Mahomes, who is best friends with Kelce.

The former best friends vacationed together and became fixtures on each other's social media pages, with Nicole even becoming close to Brittany's brother-in-law Jackson.

Even after Nicole split from Kelce, she remained friends with Brittany and even attended the mother of two's surprise birthday party in August 2023.

However, things seemed to take a turn for the worse in October 2023 as Brittany became more and more friends with Taylor Swift, who Kelce dated over the summer.

Days after the Kansas City Current co-owner was spotted on a girls' night out with Swift, Nicole unfollowed her, Jackson and Patrick on Instagram.

Despite rumors of a feud, Nicole later told PEOPLE that she unfollowed Brittany to protect her mental health – something they discussed.

“The reality is that I know these people in real life,” she explained. “And so I shared with these people in real life why I had to make the decisions I made publicly.”

“It’s a lot of history and friendship, it doesn’t change overnight,” Nicole continued. “But publicly, because things happen so quickly and so publicly, I have to protect myself. That’s really all.”

Although she insisted that “the love is still there,” the two women haven't been seen together in almost a year – despite both attending the 2024 Super Bowl.
