Trump is urging Israel to shut down Iran's nuclear facilities and criticizing Biden for urging the Jewish state to show restraint

Former President Trump called on Israel to shut down Iran's nuclear facilities and criticized President Biden for urging the Jewish state to show restraint.

“I was listening to Biden yesterday … they asked him what do you think about Iran, would you attack Iran, and he says, 'As long as they don't hit the nuclear material,'” Trump said Friday. “That’s what you want to meet, right?”

“I think he misunderstood, isn’t that the way to hit,” Trump continued. “The biggest risk we have is nuclear weapons.”

Trump made the remarks during a question-and-answer session with voters in Fayetteville, North Carolina. The former president has campaigned in the region and participated in relief efforts following the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene.

Earlier this week, Iran fired 200 ballistic missiles at Israel. The missiles were mostly fired from the sky by Israel's Iron Dome missile defense system. The only death in the attack was a Palestinian in the West Bank who was crushed by the fuselage of an intercepted missile.

Israel has vowed retaliation and received President Biden's blessing – but the Biden-Harris administration has resumed its usual calls for restraint, with Biden warning Israel not to target Iran's nuclear facilities.

“The answer is no,” Biden said emphatically on Wednesday. “We will discuss with the Israelis what they will do.”
