Trump still leads Harris in Florida, new poll shows – NBC 6 South Florida

Former President Donald Trump leads by six points in his duel against Vice President Kamala Harris in Florida, according to a national poll released Sunday.

The poll, conducted by Mason-Dixon for NBC6 and Telemundo 51, included a sample of 625 registered voters from Oct. 1-4.

If the election were held today, 49 percent of respondents would vote for Trump, while 43 percent said they would vote for Harris. Six percent remained undecided.

The economy remains top of mind for Floridians, the survey found.

When asked which issue had the greatest influence on their choice for president, 32 percent chose the economy; 15 percent said they want to protect U.S. democracy; Immigration came third at 14 percent and abortion fifth.

When asked to rate the country's current economic situation, 54 percent of survey participants rated the country as poor.

Compared to four years ago, the national survey found that 44 percent of Floridians believe they are currently worse off when it comes to their personal financial situation.

Participants were also asked which presidential candidate would handle the economy better, and 54 percent of respondents said Trump would do a better job.

Trump also outperformed Harris on immigration, 55 percent to 42 percent.

Harris did better on the issue of abortion. Half of those surveyed felt they would tackle the controversial issue better.

In the Senate race, incumbent Republican Rick Scott has a seven-point lead over Democratic challenger Debbie Mucarsel-Powell.

The poll shows 48 percent of Florida voters favor re-electing Scott to a second term in the Senate, while 41 percent are leaning toward voting for Mucarsel-Powell. Nine percent are still undecided.

The poll took a closer look at Florida's amendments, particularly Amendments 3 and 4, which deal with marijuana and abortion, respectively.

If passed, Amendment 3 would amend the state constitution to legalize recreational marijuana for adults 21 and older. Individuals would be allowed to possess up to three ounces of marijuana for personal use.

When asked if they support the legalization of recreational marijuana, 58 percent of survey participants said yes. While 35 percent said no. Seven percent remained undecided.

If approved, Amendment 4 would amend the state constitution to state that no law may prohibit, penalize, delay or restrict abortion before it is feasible. It also provides for abortion when necessary to protect the patient's health, as determined by the patient's health care provider.

Of those surveyed, 61 percent said they supported Amendment 4, while 33 percent opposed it. Six percent remained undecided.

To be adopted, amendments must receive approval from 60 percent of voters.
