Tupac Shakur Family Hires Lawyer After Sean “Diddy” Combs Arrest

The news follows reports that the late rapper's family has hired a team of investigators to determine a possible connection between Combs and Shakur's death

The family of Tupac Shakur has hired powerful attorney Alex Spiro to investigate possible connections between Sean Combs and Shakur's murder. Rolling Stone has confirmed. The news follows reports that the late Los Angeles rapper's family has hired a team of investigators to determine whether the Bad Boy Entertainment founder was involved in his death.

A representative for Combs did not immediately respond to a request for comment, but Combs has vehemently denied any involvement in the past.

At the height of the East Coast-West Coast hip-hop feud, a 25-year-old Shakur was shot dead in a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas in September 1996. The case occurred in September 2023, when Duane Keith “Keffe D” Davis, A member of the Compton Crips gang, was arrested and charged with Shakur's murder.

Davis – who goes on trial in March 2025 – has claimed Combs offered $1 million to hit Shakur.

In September, Combs was arrested and charged with conspiracy, sex trafficking and transportation for prostitution, nearly a year after his ex-girlfriend Casandra “Cassie” Ventura filed a bombshell sexual abuse lawsuit against the mogul.

Spiro is one of the leading lawyers in Hollywood, representing the likes of Megan Thee Stallion, Jay-Z and Elon Musk. His latest high-profile case ended in victory when a judge in New Mexico dismissed involuntary manslaughter charges against actor Alec Baldwin. Spiro also currently represents New York Mayor Eric Adams, who is facing corruption and bribery allegations.
