Twitty and Lynn release Tarantino-inspired “Cookin' Up Lovin” video

For almost one For decades, the duo known as Twitty & Lynn has performed the songs made famous by their respective grandparents: Michael Tre Twitty is the grandson of Conway Twitty, Tayla Lynn is Loretta Lynn's granddaughter. In their new video for “Cookin' Up Lovin',” they shine a light on their original music, a rollicking blast of Sun Records country that recalls their musical roots while defining them as their own artists outside of their families' shadows .

The music video also does both. Directed by Steve Jawn of 10:10 Creative (Old Dominion's “No Such Thing as a Broken Heart,” Miranda Lambert's “Dark Bars”), the “Cookin' Up Lovin'” clip is inspired by Quentin Tarantino's scenic films. especially in 2019 Once upon a time in Hollywood. Twitty and Lynn are cast as a feuding couple – they're not romantically involved in real life, but have been known to fight – who share space together in a colorful, eccentric trailer park. To film the video, the duo traveled south to Marfa, Texas, the remote arts community in the western part of the state, and set up in the colorful El Cosmico trailer park.

Lynn is the beleaguered, overbearing wife struggling to stay sane with a boisterous, well-timed husband. When Twitty comes home covered in stickers after another night on the town, she leaves it to him – and he's out again, racing back to the bar in his 1969 Ford LTD. In the video's most typical Tarantino moment, an interlude features radio commercials for ” Conway's Auto Sales,” “Loretta's Beauty Products” and Marfa itself. (The famous Marfa Prada also makes an appearance.)

On trend

“We had an absolute blast filming,” Lynn said in a statement. “The city was so welcoming and had an incredible atmosphere. It was the ideal backdrop for this song, and that's only because Tre scouted the place for us.” Twitty came across El Cosmico at a photo shoot in Marfa and suggested it to her director for the video.

“Cookin' Up Lovin',” written by the duo with Shelly Fairchild and Mark Narmore, is the title track from Twitty & Lynn's latest album, released this spring.
