That turned out to be true. Here are the details on the rings, designed in collaboration with Jason from Beverly Hills.

▪ There are 15 carats of diamonds in total – representative of all 15 teams in the Eastern Conference

▪ “Champions” consists of 80 white diamonds and represents 80 wins in the regular season

▪ The ring's outer bezel is decorated with 18 emerald-cut diamonds – one for each championship in franchise history

▪ The side bezel features 84 diamond dots, representing the team's winning percentage in the 2023-24 season.

▪ The results of all four playoff series are engraved on the inside of the ring.

▪ The Celtics’ motto “Whatever it Takes” is written on the side.

▪ There's a rundown of each year the Celtics won a title around the ring, and engraved on the sides of the parquet floor.

▪ The top of the ring can be removed and underneath is a replica of the 2024 banner, personalized with each player's name. It also contains the date and score of Game 5 of the NBA Finals: Celtics 106, Mavericks 88, on June 17, 2024. The date and score are engraved on a piece of the home hardwood floor.

Majority owner Wyc Grousbeck was the first to accept his championship ring and the first to take the microphone to address the crowd.

“The statistics don’t lie,” Grousbeck said. “You’re looking at one of the best teams ever assembled in the history of the NBA.”

He led the audience through a recap of the playoffs as the Garden crowd chanted “SWEEP!” when Grousbeck mentioned the Eastern Conference Finals win over the Pacers.

“You had a great team, you had a great coaching staff led by Joe (Mazzulla), a great front office led by Brad (Stevens) and you,” Grousbeck said. “The best fans in Boston – the best fans in sports.”

Jason Arashaben, CEO of Jason of Beverly Hills, said they worked “closely” with the ownership team on the design.

“The Celtics had 17 championships before last season, which means they had 17 championship rings before us. We all wanted to make sure the 18th was the best and most memorable,” Arashaben said in a press release.

Before the ring ceremony, five Celtics legends came out with the championship trophy, led by six-time champion Bob Cousy, who is 96 years old but didn't want to miss the evening.

Cedric Maxwell, a two-time champion in the 1980s, followed Cousy. Then came the Celtics' youngest legends – Ray Allen, Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce – who had the crowd in a frenzy as Pierce carried the Larry O'Brien Trophy onto the floor.
