Warm temperatures will return in Oklahoma

Warm temperatures will return in Oklahoma

Oklahoma enjoyed fall-like temperatures this week. But it looks like temperatures will climb back into the 90s next week before cooling off again. Hopefully this next cooldown sticks.

Two cold fronts moved through Oklahoma last week. This caused nighttime temperatures to drop below freezing and daytime temperatures to over 60°C. Some areas of northern Oklahoma even experienced their first frost of the year Wednesday morning.

And on Thursday, Oklahoma City hit its record low of 33 degrees that morning. The last time there was a 33-degree morning in Oklahoma City was October 1976.

Warmer days return to Oklahoma next week.

Oklahomans will be disappointed when they look at temperatures for next week. Warmer temperatures are expected to return by the middle of next week, with the warmest temperatures on Tuesday, October 22nd and Wednesday, October 23rd. Most of Oklahoma will see temperatures in the 80s, while other parts of the South will see 90 degrees again.

But after these two warm days, temperatures begin to drop again, indicating another possible cold front. And if you look at the long-term forecast for the rest of October, temperatures will continue to drop into November.

Will Oklahoma Experience an Arctic Blast on Halloween?

KFOR Chief Meteorologist Mike Morgan posted a cryptic post on his official Facebook page that hinted at a chilly Halloween. People in the comments are suggesting that Oklahoma could see an arctic blast around Halloween.

Morgan isn't the only one alluding to a scary arctic explosion for Oklahoma. Earlier this week, the Oklahoma Mesonet alluded to cool temperatures on Halloween in a Facebook post, stating that this week's cold morning temperatures could be the daytime maximum temperatures on Halloween.

Oklahoma experienced a chilly Halloween in 2023.

An arctic storm and winter weather around Halloween are not uncommon for Oklahoma. Just last year, Oklahoma experienced a very cold Halloween and some areas experienced winter-like precipitation. Okies planning on trick-or-treating this year should definitely keep an eye on the forecast.
