Was Fortnite updated today? Epic Games' Fortnitemares 2024 update is delayed

Players who were excited to play Fortnitemares today will have to wait until tomorrow.

The upcoming Fortnite seasonal update Fortnitemares has been delayed by almost 24 hours.

Here's what you should know.

Fortnite announced Fortnitemares on October 8th

Fortnite shared a teaser trailer for the upcoming update on X, formerly Twitter, in October. They announced that this update would be released on Friday, October 11th.

Fortnite confirms the drop of Fortnitemares

Fortnite tweeted at 10 a.m. on October 10, reminding players that Fortnitemares would begin the next day.

“Sharpen your tools and prepare for a scare. FORTNITEMARES – TOMORROW!”

Fornitemares update delay announced

In order to perform the update, the servers will be shut down, making the game unplayable. So when updates are made, they plan for downtime.

At around 2 a.m. on October 11th, Fortnite announced that they had postponed the start of downtime for the update, but were only planning on delaying it by a few hours.

An hour later, Fortnite announced that the downtime would not begin until 2 a.m. on October 12th.

How to check Fortnite status

Fortnite will no longer be playable after 2 a.m. on October 12th. While there is currently no confirmation on when the game will be available again after the downtime, you can check status.epicgames.com.

Additionally, X account FortniteStatus regularly shares downtime status updates.
