Sarfaraz Khan scored his maiden international century in the first Test against New Zealand at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Game recognizes game. Virat Kohli knew that Sarfaraz Khan was a special talent long before he started storming the Indian national team's doors with a truckload of runs for Mumbai in first-class cricket. An old clip of Kohli's moment with Sarfaraz during an IPL match is going viral on social media. In it, the former Royal Challengers Bengaluru captain is seen paying his respects to the young batsman after a brilliant performance.

During a match between RCB and Rajasthan Royals during IPL 2015, 17-year-old Sarfaraz faced the likes of Shane Watson, Tim Southee and James Faulkner at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium and scored an entertaining 44 – an innings in which he unleashed a host of players of bold shots, including an upper cut, a reverse flick and a loft shot, which impressed the then captain Kohli mightily.

On Saturday, Sarfaraz once again showed his skills as Kohli watched him from the Indian dressing room. Same venue but different settings. That time it was for RCB, this time it was for India in a Test.

Sarfaraz celebrated his maiden international anniversary with flying colors, needing just 110 deliveries. He made his India debut during the five-match Test series at home against England earlier this year. In three of these games, the 26-year-old scored 200 runs, including three half-centuries, as India registered a 4-1 win.

The young batsman thus made an excellent comeback after being dismissed for a duck in the first innings of the ongoing Test. He was included in India's playing eleven as a replacement for Shubman Gill, who was ruled out due to lack of fitness.

Incidentally, Gill was the last Indian batsman to score a duck and century in the same Test, having done so in the recent Chennai Test against Bangladesh.
