Saturday night's top-five matchup between Georgia and Texas will feature two teams headed to a national championship and two quarterbacks who were early Heisman Trophy favorites in the offseason.

Carson Beck will be the no. 4 Bulldogs (5-1, 3-1 SEC) against Quinn Ewers and the No. 1 Longhorns (6-0, 2-0) lead.

Their performance in this matchup could boost their Heisman standings and, more importantly, solidify their team's positioning for the College Football Playoff.

“It’s always fun to play on the road in a big environment,” Beck said. “That’s why you play in the SEC, that’s why you come to Georgia, to play in big games.”

According to BetMGM, Beck is currently listed at +1500 for the Heisman, the sixth-best odds. Ewers is listed at +2000, putting him in eighth place.

After missing two games with an oblique injury, Ewers returned for Texas' 34-3 win over Oklahoma. He was 20 of 29 for 199 yards with one touchdown pass and one interception.

He said his confidence in his throws and his foot speed could have been better.

“There's just a lot of ways we can win football games,” said Ewers, who has rushed for 6,546 yards and 46 touchdowns in three seasons. “It kind of takes the pressure off the offense when our defense is playing the way it is right now.”

Beck has passed for 1,818 yards and 15 touchdowns with 5 interceptions this season, with Arian Smith coming off a game in which he caught 5 passes for 134 yards and a touchdown.

Texas coach Steve Sarkisian said Beck “has a real presence in the pocket and can make all the throws.” I think they have a plan that suits him. They believe in the play-action pass, believe in the double moves and will take a lot of shots up the court. …There’s nothing in a throwing game that he can’t really do.”

In the last 54 games, Georgia has lost to none other than Alabama. Texas appears to be the part of the Crimson Tide team that beat the Bulldogs, but this is the first big SEC test for the Longhorns. Carson Beck makes enough big plays and the Georgia defense steps up to get the win.
