Watch Jared Goff Show Off His Arm During Pregame Warmups (Video)

If you were to rank NFL starting quarterbacks based on arm strength, Jared Goff wouldn't be at the top of the list. It's just not something he showcases all that often in games, and being a pocket passer like he is, the idea of broken plays where he could uncork a deep pass on the move is eliminated. And honestly, that could look pretty ugly.

So if one were to list Goff's strengths as a quarterback, an overwhelming strong arm like someone like Josh Allen wouldn't be at the top of the list. Sure, there's a baseline of arm strength required to be a high-functioning NFL quarterback, and Goff is confident that's the case in most cases as he now enters his ninth season. His game is based on recognition, timing and accuracy that go beyond mere physical tools. That's not a knock, it just is.

Some coaches, regardless of sport, may say, “Practice like you play.” Which, in the context of a quarterback during pregame warmups, might go something like this: “If you didn't throw a 65-yard pass in a game , don’t do that while warming up.”

That being said, starting baseball players often throw long throws when warming up before a game. With that in mind, Goff threw a 65-yard pass down a line to the end zone during warmups before Monday night's game against the Seattle Seahawks.

Maybe Goff was practicing Monday night for a deep ball that's in the Jameson Williams playbook (“Practice how you play,” actually). Or maybe he noticed an NFL-commissioned camera was near him, ready to document something for a social media clip, and he wanted to show off his arm.

Either way, it was a fun little moment and there's no doubt that Goff has plenty of arm strength, even if he doesn't do it often in games.
