What Ohio State defensive coordinator Jim Knowles said after the Buckeyes' 32-31 loss to Oregon

EUGENE, Ore. – Ohio State defensive coordinator Jim Knowles addressed the media following the team's 32-31 loss to Oregon on Saturday night at Autzen Stadium.

It wasn't his defense's best night, as the Ducks marched up and down the field for four quarters all night.

Here's what Knowles had to say:

  • “We have to improve our coaching work. That's it. This is the end result. We didn't make enough plays, I don't think we excelled in any area. We felt like we were always behind. It was out of character. We have to learn from it. We have to train better, we have to train better.”
  • Why and how Ohio State allowed so many big plays: “We didn’t get it done. The coach spoke, but we didn't implement it. When you play against a better opponent, you have to raise your level of play. I just felt like we needed to coach our guys better. We need to put them in a better position and focus on the details to make sure we don’t get doubly overwhelmed by this defeat.”
