What's going on with TreeHouse Foods stock today?

TreeHouse Foods, Inc. (NYSE:THS) shares are trading slightly lower on Friday.

The Company has voluntarily recalled certain frozen waffle products due to the potential risk of Listeria monocytogenes contamination.

This organism can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections, especially in young children, the elderly, and people with weakened immune systems.

The affected products were distributed in the United States and Canada and are packaged in various formats.

However, healthy people may only experience mild symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. Listeria monocytogenes infections can also cause miscarriages and stillbirths in pregnant women.

The company said there have been no confirmed reports of illness related to the recalled products. This issue was discovered during routine testing at the production facility.

Consumers are advised to either discard the listed products or return them to the point of purchase for a refund. This recall is being conducted in collaboration with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA).

According to Benzinga Pro, THS stock has gained 0.6% over the past year. Investors can invest in the stock through the following Invesco S&P SmallCap Consumer Staples ETF (NASDAQ:PSCC) and LeaderShares Activist Leaders ETF (NYSE:ACTV).
